Meet Charles Pence, Loraine Silver, Brett Silver and John Hathorn
 

• For 30 years, Charles and his partners, have specialized in the sale of estate properties on the Los Angeles’ coveted Westside- Brentwood, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Malibu.  He has been widely recognized as a leader in the community and an expert in the field of real estate development, marketing and negotiations.  As a Previews Property Director, Charles has consistently been honored in the Society of Excellence with Coldwell Banker, which represents the top one-tenth of 1% of all agents internationally.  With his partners, John Hathorn, Loraine Silver, and Brett Silver, and their team they have sold over $2.0 billion in fine Westside homes, apartment buildings and condominiums over the last 30 years.
• As a Director, Charles is often called upon for his advice and assistance in the training and mentoring of both new and experienced agents in both Coldwell Banker and the general real estate community.  Charles is a teacher at heart and so it was no surprise that he was invited several years ago to be a founding faculty member with i-Succeed.com, an internet training company, specializing in the training of real estate agents via the web.
• Charles grew up in Seattle Washington where his father was a professor of speech, rhetoric and debate at the University of Washington.  So it was only fitting that he grew up a “Husky” and then graduated from the same university.  Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from his Alma matter, majored in Political Science with minors in English and Speech.

Raised on the Westside of Los Angeles and working in real estate for over 20 years, John graduated from Venice High School in 1975 and attended Santa Monica College as a music major, graduated from Musicians Institute in 1981 and studied business management briefly at USC. Having been married for 24 years and raising 3 sons with wife Nancy (another Venice High School graduate), John’s personal contact list and local market knowledge is second to none. He has owned, bought, sold, renovated and remodeled properties throughout Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Mar Vista, Malibu and even Nicaragua.

He has ranked consistently in the top 1% of all real estate agents nationwide and has been awarded Coldwell Banker’s Southern California International President’s Premier and Coldwell Banker Top 100 agents as well as receiving the prestigious Society of Excellence Awards each year since 2003.

He is a past director of the L.A. Board of Realtors, served on the board of directors of The Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra, and has helped in fundraising activities for many charitable causes. He offers absolute dedication to his clients. John’s vast network of contacts, wide variety of market area knowledge, and his detailed, results-oriented approach has made him a recognized leader in real estate. He credits his success to continuing education and on-going advanced training and great instincts. Clients and colleagues know John as a highly motivated individual possessing the thorough and effective technical skills necessary in the often demanding, high-end estate home marketplace.

Loraine specializes in estate properties on the Westside which includes Santa Monica, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills and Venice. Born in South Africa she holds a Masters degree in Social Sciences from there and has lived and worked in Santa Monica for more than 25 years. She is happy as two of her three children have chosen to follow her into Real Estate and are members of the Pence Hathorn Silver team.

What sets Loraine apart from the other top producers are her exceptional people skills. As testimony from past clients, their experience with Loraine is always professional with a personal touch which translates into a very smooth, stress free transaction. Her repeat business is a reflection of her personalized service, ability to focus into the specific needs of her clients and her insight into the important subtleties of a real estate transaction. Her high level of professionalism, thorough knowledge of the market place, dedicated responsiveness, and superb negotiation skills have made her one of the top producers on the Westside. She has received various prestigious Coldwell Banker awards such as the Society of Excellence, Top 100; International President’s Premier and is on track to receive more. Loraine is always available and enjoys meeting and working with new clients.

Brett became a partner at PHS in 2007 after consistently being the company's top producing associate for ten years running. His increasingly responsible leadership position allows him to mentor associates at the company, while continuing to service his A-level client list. Brett attributes his success to the invaluable experience of watching, listening to and working with his partners, Charles, John , and Loraine. Brett's negotiating style and marketing approach have helped him achieve success in transactions, while his attentiveness to his clients have led to continued success in the industry.

Brett joined PHS in 1997 following graduate school at USC, where he earned a Masters degree in business accounting. Brett is married and has a son, Logan and daughter Olivia.
