The reviews for True Food Kitchen from the toughest critics (my friends) are in, and the consensus is yum! I had been been to the restaurant before in Newport Beach and was so excited to see one opening in Santa Monica.
The globally inspired menu is created by Chef Michael Stebner in conjunction with partner, Dr Andrew Weil, utilizing seasonal fresh produce, mostly from the local farmer’s market. Because we couldn’t decide on what to order and wanted to try practically everything on the menu, we ended up sharing several dishes, which I highly recommend. Everything tasted so fresh, flavorful and delicious! My favorite picks are:
- Tuscan Kale Salad – I didn’t even know I liked Kale but the dressing was amazing!
- Sundried Tomato & Olive Pizza with Goat Cheese & Kale Pesto
- Fava Bean & Ricotta Ravioli w/ Shaved Artichoke, Tat Soi & Meyer Lemon – we even got to watch Cesar make the raviolis in a display right by our table
- Steak Tacos with Avacado, Cojtija cheese, Tomatillo Salsa, Sour Cream & Anasazi Bean
And if you are thirsty, you can savor one of the many natural refreshments or cocktails, all made with fresh juices and herbs. True Foods Kitchen is located in the Santa Monica Place Mall so you can always reward yourself for being healthy with a little shopping.
We went for our most recent girls night out dinner and all my friends (even the one who doesn’t typically enjoy eating healthy) absolutely loved it, in fact it is decided we will be going back there for our next dinner together.
Have you tried True Foods yet? If so, what’s your favorite thing on the menu? What other healthy restaurants do you enjoy?
