Montana Avenue is hosting a “Buy Local” event on March 19th from 10am-6pm and Sunday March 20th from Noon-6pm. The festival has something for everyone with 10 blocks of live music, children’s art competition, trunk shows, special sales, a scavenger hunt with prizes and a chance to win a $500 Montana Avenue shopping spree! Sunday is the LA Marathon so the late start time should help avoid traffic issues.
As the daughter of small business owners, I try hard to spend my money with local shops and Montana Avenue really does have quite the variety these days! My frequent stops on the street for errands are Angelo’s Shoe Repair, White Water Florist, Andrew’s Cheese Shop, L’Olipant Jewelers, Montana Ave Clock Shop and Regent Square Pharmacy. Spending your money locally has so many benefits- both personally and for the community. Studies show that each dollar spent at local businesses, on average, generates at least 3x the local economic benefit than dollars spent at “big box” or franchise stores.
I love that Montana is hosting this event and I hope it serves as a reminder that we have world class shopping in addition to many other necessary services right here on Montana Avenue!
