Graffiti in the Santa Monica Mountains

On my last bike ride, I was shocked to see that someone had spray painted graffiti up and down Sullivan Ridge Road above Capri and to the end of the gate.

During the last 14 years I have lived on the Westside and enjoyed the escape of the Santa Monica Mountains. I often ride and hike in this area and am saddened by this. I see so many people up there daily. I wonder if anyone else feels as cheated by this selfish act as I do.

As an Aspen transplant, I had not seen graffiti other than on television and film. I did travel to NYC as a child and did not feel the need to return. Los Angeles is the first and only big city I have lived in.

I feel blessed to have the ability to work, surf and ride either my road bikes or mountain bikes as a sort of meditation or escape from my life in the big city.  I do hope this is an isolated incident. I am an avid cyclist and lover of the outdoors. I hate to see such a beautiful area ruined by someone with too much time on their hands.
