I’ve been in search of the perfect gift for my college friend’s adorable children. I was looking for something she couldn’t find in Iowa, and I decided since I was reviewing stores on Montana Avenue, Janie and Jack would be my destination.
Janie and Jack, located at 1311 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, specializes in children’s clothing, preemie to size 8, and is owned by the Gymboree Company. I’d heard about the store from UsWeekly, a magazine that is always happy to let the tabloids know when someone such as Katie Holmes or Reese Witherspoon has been in the store. Once from the comfort of my own desk, I watched six paparazzi stalking Jennifer Garner while she was shopping. I figured there must be something to this store and decided to check it out for my friend’s kids.
I was very impressed with Janie and Jack. The clothes are absolutely beautiful and full of details. You can find similar items at Baby Gap for a bit cheaper, but I found the clothes here to be much cuter. The boy’s clothing they have is the cutest selection I’ve seen in a long time, and ranged from preppy to beach wear. As for the girl’s clothing, the only thing I could focus on where the beautiful dresses. They even had wedding attire complete with small purses and adorable satin shoes.
Janie and Jack is a little out of my price range, especially since I don’t have children of my own and am only buying gifts. They also do not offer the 10 percent discount to Montana Avenue workers due to corporate policy. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they even do free gift wrapping. If you are looking for a little more upscale children’s clothing, and can afford it, I would definitely recommend Janie and Jack.
Does anyone shop here on a regular basis? Due to the price of the clothes, I’m very curious as to how well they hold up to the wear and tear of an active toddler.
