More interesting information and news about Santa Monica.
Besides living longer (as mentioned in my last blog) Santa Monicans are also the drunkest in all of California. According to a recent study, Roadsnacks claims (for info-tainment purposes) that Santa Monica is the drunkest because it has the most bars, liquor stores, wineries, and pubs per capita. It also boasts the most hashtags displaying drunk lingo.
Here is the full list:
- Santa Monica
- Santa Barbara
- Newport Beach
- San Mateo
- El Cajon
There may be an unintended consequence of all the drinking that goes on around here. Did you know divorce rates in Santa Monica are also #1? Of course there is no scientific correlation; it’s just interesting to mention.
In other surprising news, Santa Monica was named #97 out of 240 California cities on the “Best and Worst Cities for Families” list. We ranked much higher than most but the top 10 best is dominated by Norcal. According to this survey, Santa Monica is 143 spots better than Huntington Park to raise your kids. How’d they measure? 25 points were given consideration including Education, Health and Safety, Family Life and Fun, Affordability, and Socioeconomic Environment. If home prices were more affordable I am sure we would be in the top 10 but prices are at all-time highs with multiple offers and record breaking sales every quarter this year.
