Santa Monica residents may not be aware of the sport activities offered through the city’s Recreation Center. They have a wide variety of activities available to choose from for both kids & adults. Technically you can sign up if you do not live locally, but residents get a discount off the already fair price.

Some Fun Activities Include:

– Zumba Dance
– Jujitsu Self Defense
– Tennis
– Beach Volleyball
…and much much more.

If you are looking to try something new or just brush up on some skills, then these classes are great. I recently took tennis lessons at Douglas Park and really enjoyed the teacher as well as the people I met in class. Once the class was finished we were able to exchange phone numbers if we ever wanted to coordinate a friendly tennis match to further practice our new and improved strokes. They offered different levels, from beginners to advance, so you can either learn the basics or practice killing the opponent with your backhand spin.

Spring classes start shortly and they are already taking sign-ups. Typically classes full up fast so I would recommend registering as early as possible. You can check out the class schedules online via RecScape.

Have you ever taken any of these classes? What would you recommend? What has been your experience?
